Therefore, this meticulously researched topic, using the best scientific method and statistical analysis confirms that seeing your hygienist for regular Periodontal Maintenance (cleaning appointment) will help your overall health.

The Oregon Dental Association has provided patients with a better understanding about the use and relatively low risk of appropriate dental X-ray usage.

At Singer Dental we follow radiation exposure guidelines set out by our national and provincial regulatory bodies under the principles of ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable).
The investment in State of the Art X-ray equipment, and the practice of ALARA principles reduces radiation exposure both to our patients AND the Singer Dental team.

Patients with a low history of decay and periodontal disease require less frequent x-ray examination. Ensure you reduce your risk of decay and periodontal disease by practicing OPTIMAL DAILY HOME CARE and eating a balanced diet low in sugary and acidic foods and drinks.

There has been significant media coverage about the side effects of radiation caused by x-ray diagnostic imaging. A recent retrospective study in the Journal Cancer discusses the potential link between excessive, high radiation dental x-rays in some individuals and increased risk of a benign type of brain tumor.
This article discusses some new data suggesting there is a recent increase in early childhood dental decay.

I always instruct my patients that their infant children should have their first about 6 MONTHS AFTER THE ERUPTION OF THEIR FIRST TOOTH, most often BEFORE THEIR FIRST BIRTHDAY. Besided ensuring that developement is taking place, it is important to make them feel comfortable in the dental office environment AND reinforce proper home care.

I speak with my patients regularly about the links between Periodontal Disease and their overall health.  Specifically those with active and under treated Periodontal infection are at higher risk of developing Diabetes and Heart Disease.  Patients with deeper pockets require more frequent Periodontal Maintenance appointments to manage their disease and reduce its long term oral and whole body effects.  Feel free to ask Andra or Dr. Singer about how you can best treat your Periodontal Condition.

The links are so clear, that now Periodontal Pocket contents are being used to assess the scope and scale of a patient's Diabetic condition.

Nice article! Consider wrapping the floss around the MIDDLE finger only.....this will allow you to use the tips of your index fingers and thumbs to reach throughout the mouth in a more comfortable way. Also don't be concerned whether you floss or brush first, just make sure to spend at least two minutes brushing and however long you require to floss effectively.
